Art-Program Contests

These contests are for those wickedly good users of
art-programs! There will be several contests that will
determine the best Program Artists in different categories!

Choosing The Winner:

There will be an overall limit of entries set at twenty (20). From those twenty (20), the judges will pick out a top five (5), and the winner will be decided in a final vote with a poll. To be fair, only one (1) entry per person will be allowed in the final vote.

Rules of all contests:

1. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE FROM SCRATCH. No photographs, no drawings, no photomanipulations, everything must be purely created in an art-program (Photoshop, MsPaint, Gimp, Open Canvas, etc.) And just to make it clear, from scratch means that by using ONLY the tools and special effects your program offers you, you start with a blank page, then work your way up to a masterpiece! 2. ENTRIES must be relevant with the theme. The entries must also follow the uploading art rules.

3. NO STEALING ART! Images must be created by Elftowners and posted here by the original artist. Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular image on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here. This includes random images from the net too. MAKE YOUR OWN DARN IMAGES, DON'T STEAL THEM AND TRY TO CLAIM THEM AS YOUR OWN! If we find out that you have stolen artwork, we WILL report you.
It can happen an artwork has the same title as another one; this is not against the rules as long as the artists' names are clear.

4. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE UPLOADED TO ELFTOWN!. Ask [Sunrose] for wiki-privs if you don't have them already: members who follow the uploading art rules and thus are not troublemakers, will be granted these privs. See advanced help for more information about privs.

5. EACH MEMBER MAY SUBMIT THREE (3) ENTRIES.

6. SUBJECT MATTER: Images that depict graphic violence, pornography or other disturbing actions will not be accepted. Only images that fit the current theme will be allowed.

Suggestions:

We are now open to some suggestions for some themes for the next contest. Post them up in the Suggestions wiki. There will then be a vote to decide which theme the next contest will be based on.

2006-02-02 [iippo]: I understand. Just making sure, because I always use reference (either my imagination is that bad or I'm a pro :P) and there have been cases where I enter a contest and people tell me "you copied your picture you poohead!" And I blink and say "you mean this one I used as a reference?" And I assume wide interpretations are accepted as well? I.e. Cityscape, seascape etc... *has to do machines...* O_O

2006-02-02 [iippo]: Just out of curiosity (and I'm a curious little mukluk), what other themes are you planning on doing? :)

2006-02-02 [Zab]: This contest could be copied from any official contest! XD Same layout and even dividers..:P But I don't think anythings wrong with that tho..:P

2006-02-02 [iippo]: I'd say it's done on purpose to look the same, which is cool. Gives out a more "serious" air... :)

2006-02-02 [Mr.Scoop]: Yea I wanted to get the same effect as a real contest ^__^ And to answer both of your questions [iippo], Yes for the first, and for futur contests there's a wiki for people to give suggestions which is in fact called, Suggestion ^^. So if we ever run out of ideas or anything, we just have a look there.

2006-02-02 [Mr.Scoop]: The currently suggested themes are Fantasy Creatures, Rock Formations and Solar Systems. On the wiki there's a poll to vote for which one you'd like to do. And you can add your own suggestions as well. I check up on it every day to update the poll if new suggestions are made ^^

2006-02-03 [iippo]: As a side-note, do export the page. That way it'll come up easier on searches.

2006-02-03 [iippo]: Erm, well... people find it..? XD I'm not sure but Hedda makes a big deal out of it. If it is exported, I think it comes up in Google. I'm not sure what's the deal with keywords, but if you want to be found, the best way is to make as much keywords as possible and export the whole shannagang in the end. But yeah, Hedda will poke everyone to export, so do it to please him if nothing else :P
